Remarketing (also known as retargeting) is a form of online marketing that enables businesses to keep their brand in front of users who have already visited their site, in attempts to drive higher conversions. It works by placing a small cookie in a user's browser or device when they visit a website, mobile app, or online advertisement. When the user visits other sites in the internet, the cookie links to a list of previously identified website visitors and allows the business to serve up ads on other sites that are tailored to a user's interests. For example, if a user searches for shoes on a retailer's website and then visits other sites, the retailer could serve up a banner ad for their shoes on other sites the user visits. This helps the retailer to keep their product in front of their perfect customer, in attempts to drive conversions and sales.
